Hand-painted Portrait Snuff Box scribble exquisitely made and very specialI love the history of gestures and body language as a vocabulary, and while much is lost on me, I've certainly seen many a pretty young woman portrayed with this raised hand gesture which, together with her deep blush and the bright yellow bow just below her corseted waist, signals both modesty and beckoning at the same time. Quite a vision in pink! Mid 19th c. I believe, finely hand painted, black lacquered snuff box. 3 1 2" x 2 1 4" x 15 16" t. Box
